Our company's tagline is "obsessively, relentlessly at your service." It is not a fluffy catch phrase. It is a blueprint of how we operate and a commitment we take seriously. We do whatever it takes to serve customers by going above and beyond what is expected of us.
Big companies can sometimes lose sight of the customers who pay for the products and services the company offers. At MidAmerican, we focus first on the customer. Each of our approximately
17,800 employees worldwide knows our customers are the primary driver in every decision we make.
MidAmerican employees are instructed to exceed expectations. Although I believe we consistently do an excellent job of serving customers, I believe we can consistently improve every year. If you are our customer, we want to know how we can better meet your expectations.
Our service goes beyond pipes and wires. It also includes the human touch of employees making a difference in the communities in which they live and work. MidAmerican augments the impact of its employees’ service through a program called Global Days of Service.
Global Days of Service recognizes and supports the volunteer efforts of our employees. MidAmerican enhances the impact of employee volunteer hours by disbursing $250,000 to qualifying organizations based on the number of employee volunteer hours logged. Employees submitted
70,697 qualifying hours during the last program year. That’s an impressive amount of volunteer time, which was matched by our corporate contribution of
$3.54 per hour worked by MidAmerican employees to the organizations they served.
I am proud of the quality of individuals representing MidAmerican’s business platforms around the world and the ways they make a difference in their communities. These employees have a heart for their fellow human beings and selflessly give back to their communities regularly through the donation of their own personal time and resources. That's what being a good neighbor is all about.
Almost all corporations would claim to be good corporate citizens. We back up the claim with our checkbook and the volunteer efforts of our employees.
