Energy in the U.K.

Working with Regulators to Lower Costs for Customers,
Working Internally to Improve Productivity
The regulatory body in Great Britain, which oversees the gas and electricity sector, is known as the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets.
Ofgem is responsible for ensuring that the competitive markets in electricity and gas supply work properly and to the advantage of customers. Ofgem is also responsible for regulating the monopolistic activities of gas and electricity transmission and distribution.
Because the activities of Ofgem affect profitability, CE
Electric UK, MidAmerican's subsidiary that provides
electricity distribution services for northeastern
England, works proactively with Ofgem to establish sound
principles of price regulation.
